What cfs do you guys start putting kayaks on the river. I'd be interested in paddling upstream and floating back down. Thanks

Speaking just for myself, I like the river at low levels when I'm out in my yak or canoe, this is especially true if I want to paddle upriver. I'd look for water levels of about 4.5' or less at the Harrisburg gage.

I'll second what Dave_W said. My buddy and I went out on our yaks a few weeks ago when the levels were up close to 6. It was a blast, but little fishing was done and there was no way we could have paddled upstream. The rapids at Shocks Mill were pretty intense, also.

It might be wise to think more about paddling across the river rather than paddling up river. I would find a nice rock garden, which there are lots of on the susky, and pick your way through it in the kayak. This kind of fishing is more fun, interesting and productive with a fly rod imo. Additionally it's going to be much easier paddling even in heavy current.
