does anyone know anything about shade creek? im new to the johnstown area and am having some troubles finding good waters to fish. thanks, jay.

i think there is just a shade creek in central city as well as a dark shade creek but i know nothing about them other than they run through town

All mountain freestoners, stocked adequately I would suppose. Don't know much about hatches. Give them a visit and report back.

I love Clear shade and fish it often. The FFO is about 2 1/2 miles up from rt 160 outside of Windber. I dirt road will take you there. It is hit pretty hard this time of the year with both fly fishermen and bait fishermen (below FFO section). You can also access the stream at the iron bridge near the town of New Ashtola. There are few natives and hatches are not so great. There is a Green Drake hatch that brings a bunch of guys to the stream in early June. Your best bet is to drive up the dirt road off 160 and park anywhere and walk to the stream. You'll catch a few with hares ear or princes and run into some guys along the way. Enjoy.

Zem..........i'm with you on that one , i love clear shade too and fish it and the tribs piney and cub and others often , but more often a little later in the year when the crrowd thins out and it's nice and cool up there on the mountain , there is also some great fishing on clear shade above , north of rt 56 , above ogletown , one of the few places this far south you can find some good beaverdam fishing , some of it up tribs that don't look like they would hold anything.
