Paflyfish Spring Jamboree 2025 - Save The Date

The Mods and I wanted to share that we have set the dates as Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18. More details will follow with a formal announcement later. I have talked to Jake at Seven Mountains and we are all set for the weekend. Heads up there was some conversation with Jake about a new numbering scheme for the cabins and camping areas. For example you may need to ask and confirm your cabin location as the map on the site may not be correct.

Dear KMS,

There is a Weis Market and a GIANT in Burnham PA about 10 miles before the campground off of Rte 322. There is a local Amish style market Burkholder's Market in Millheim on Rte 45. I realize that doesn't help you now but those are the closest options.

I realize now that you drove past our gathering last night when you arrived. Most of us were around the fire in front of the cabin. You had no way of knowing that though because we kind of just started hanging out in front of the cabin and a fire was built and things went from there.

It's not that we are anti-social or that we have no plans. Most of the people have been attending for years and we have kind of loosely formed packs. If you see a couple of people hanging around a cabin stop by and say Hi. Odds are strong they will be PAFF members.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂
Hey Tim:

Thanks so much for stopping by and for the info on the local shops - I’ll know for next time 👍.

Btw, for any who don’t know Giant’s hot rotisserie chicken is a serious bargain. At 4+ lbs for $8 and better than almost anything similar either packaged or in the deli case, that’s my main course for the next two nights.

For WaWa regulars who are first timers at Sheetz, stick to the hot subs. They’re on par with WaWa, though WaWa bread is better. WaWa cold cut subs are better by a mile, but hot stuff is pretty even IMO. Sheetz’s grilled chicken subs are better than any hot sub option at WaWa.

Both of their coffee sucks. Worth the extra stop at DD.

The jam is always a great times. Had fun playing music with shaky. It’s a great meeting and all the members. Always a great time.

+1 endorse burkholders. fried chicken is the best in centre co. I haven't tried the other prepared foods but the bar looked solid. Only rub is the hours are more restricted than the chains.

Caught fish every day, Spring was solid, not great Thurs and Sat. Kid caught quite a few, all on top. Friday was tough, managed just a couple on small streams.

Great seeing everyone!

It was good chatting with you guys and meeting some new people at the Jam. The fishing during the jam mostly sucked for me, but today was my best outing of the year. I landed maybe 15, had that many hooked for a split second as well, and I lost a big fish, which I'm going to gauge at around 18". It's about time I had a good outing.

Dear nymphingmaniac,

One other thing that Burkholder's has is an extensive collection of old-style candies. I'm not talking Snicker's or Payday's, I'm talking the stuff old farts like me used to buy 10 cents worth at a corner store and be good for all day. 😉

Tim Murphy 🙂
