Over garbage hooks

So many hook brands.

But I wonder how many hook factories exist in the world. Probably much less than the number of brands.

Any comments....good or bad....about Tiemco hooks?
Depends. For the most part, TMC hooks (whoever makes them) are pretty good. About 5 years ago some TMC branded hooks we're made in China and Tiwan instead of Japan... due to regulations on chemical sharpening, finishing. The hooks made in China and Tiwan have a really bright bronzing to them compared to the Japanese made hooks, which are far superior.

You're right about this! Not very many hook manufacturers out there these days. I can think of 4.

I just had an idea when I broke a hook while pinching barbs to tie some flies.
It made me think of this post.
I thought about saving those broken shanks yu get sometimes (I too have some "cheap" hooks I've bought) and using them to make articulated nymphs.

I bought a pack of Tiemco Hooks and one of the hooks had no eye. However they make a good hook albeit on the expensive side.
