I have every one of my licences with the Trout Stamps.
From 1991 till 2007 Every one that were printed.
I even have some of the others prior to that with the printed pics .
Various fish such as Bass Sunnies etc , back to 1980.
I miss the Stamps.
Could they be worth anything?
I believe they are actual US Postage stamps
The ELECTRONIC licenses of today are pretty bland
I miss the OLD SCHOOL stuff

For some odd reason I've saved all my licenses since 1970. Does anyone remember the badges that were issued in the '70's?

I have 2 badges on my desk in front of me. One is dated 1974 and the other one is 1975.

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

Does anyone remember these ?

Anyone still kicking from that era wouldn't be on the net, I reckon.
Though I do fish with someone who's 79, I 'll have to ask him about fishing buttons.

My dad wore an old filson hat covered from stem to stern with the buttons. As for stamps, I purchased 2 each year. One I signed and attached to my license. The other was framed. I still do the same thing for duck stamps and one for every season since 1969.

Had button when I bought the first license in 1953. GG Wish I knew where they went.

Were they about the size of a half dollar with a pin type clasp? If so, I might vaguely remember something like that? That was quite a while back! lol

wildtrout2,

They are 2 different sizes, one about a half dollar, the other about a silver dollar size, both with pin clasps.

Those old school buttons are awesome! Wish they still did that. Im a big pin/button fan.

I don't know how much old trout stamps are worth, but yes, they are collectible. I've seen them sold on eBay in the Fishing>Vintage>Other section.

They would have to double price of lisence to be able to do them..

Trout stamps just never took off the way duck stamps did.....and I've always been puzzled by that. I'm referring mainly to the art print industry that correlates with license stamps. The popularity of this industry helps sustain the concept of license images (the actual "stamps"). Generally speaking, it's my opinion that sporting art has never quite connected with anglers to the extent it has with hunters and the fizzling of trout stamp license images perhaps reflects this.

There are some collectors that want stamps and sometimes a matching print......but they're pretty few. When I painted the 2001 Nevada stamp, for example, I made a print edition and for a year or so there were folks who wanted the print with the same matching number from previous years. I still have stamp #0001 framed with the original artwork. However, interest soon waned. A decade later, like most states, Nevada doesn't even have a trout stamp image anymore (although they still have a popular duck stamp).

There was definitely some buzz back in the 1990s about trout stamps/prints and states (like PA) that adopted color license stamps back then tried to encourage this along with some art publishers who hoped it would be a good business venture.
Unfortunately, it never really took off.
