I'm thinking of heading up to Meadow Run on Saturday. Has anyone been on the stream lately? With the lack of rain I thought it might be running pretty low and clear but I haven't fished the stream enough to know how it reacts.

Then you've fished it enough to know that if its 55 and sunny (like they predict) it'll be really crowded. Check teh stream reports. Someone was at Meadow a few days ago.

Now that all the local waters have been stocked, it won't be any worse than the others. According to the report Tom referenced, though, it would probably be on the low side. With 4 miles of DHALO, you should be able to find a few spots to fish. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I looked but didn't see any recent reports on Meadow. Would any of the other local streams be any better as far as flow or we just going to have to deal with low and clear until we get some rain? What would you suggest as far as flies this time of year? I'm guessing egg imitaions would be a go to fly with the recently stocked rainbows but my fly fishing experience is pretty limited. I will probably throw a steady diet of egg patterns, nymphs, and buggers.

Depends where you are located ?

there's always the yough if meadow is low.

Just make sure you are in the right stretches.

Everything downstream from the rt381 bridge in Ohiopyle is open all year correct? Maybe I will just stay local and try my luck around Connellsville on the Yough

Hit Meadow a few weeks ago and the fish were still all podded up and more intrested in their new surroundings than my flies. Probably has changed by now though. Hearing it is low and clear like you said. The main drawback to me was the amount of guys-for a weekday.

DHALO areas is the name of the game in western PA.

Even though the Yough is open year-round in Connelsville, the state doesn't stock it any more. All those downstream areas depend upon the local club stockings, of which there are many. I don't know whether or when any clubs stock in Connelsville, so you may want to check into that ahead of time. The Yough from 381 upstream to Ramcat Run and from the mouth of the Casselman to the outflow is also open and regularly stocked both by PFBC and clubs.

In the Connelsville area, you can be at Dunbar quickly. I believe it has been stocked, but it also holds over fish. It will be populated well if the weather is nice, but if you park deep in the gamelands and walk upstream a bit, you will find some privacy and may even get into some native trout.

I fished Meadow and Laurel Hill last Friday and I looked at Indian on the way home. Everything is unusually low for this time of year, but the fish are catchable. I had some luck fishing midge pupae under a dry fly. Egg patterns will likely work this time of year too. The trick will be using more summer/low flow/stealth type tactics than you normally would in March.

I thought there was a lot more algea on the rocks at Meadow Run than I ever remember before. Anyone agree with my assessment or know what might have changed?
