Your indicator fly might as well work as more than a bobber - join a 5X looped tippet to the rear of this Dry and attach a #18 Pheasant Tail or Chiro pupa for fun - betcha catch feesh on both! Use whatever colors/sizes you want - but try the loop tail and you’ll never have to tie that clinch knot to the bend of your barbless hook 😬

Size 14 Dry Fly Hook
4X Tippet loop
Tan poly yarn body
Light Shrimp poly wing

Very creative! Are you sure it will hold?

Sorry, I should have clarified earlier - Yes - I’m using 12/0 nanosilk and you have to double the loop tippet back on itself, you can also put a tiny drop of cyo glue on it if you want - I always attach at least one “X” size down for the dropper - in this case a 5X or 6X will be fine - I draw the line at a #14 dry as being the smallest indicator fly for me and never drop anything larger than a #18 for the trailer. Photos show the technique and strength - a 4X loop to a 3x dropper (two sizes heavier than my recommended dropper) lifting a Regal vise base - if you

mono loops at the hook bend have been around for quite a while. good for attaching a dropper fly

Yup - I’m not laying claim to it - I did have a catalog shot in my “pro” days - I’m just sharing for those who may not know
