Little J Questions

I've never caught anything on streams that are swollen with snow melt.
Is there still snow on the ground out there? its gone around here.

Thinking about coming out next week to do an olive check

probably going to still be high Saturday. Run-off will continue until Saturday when air temperatures start to drop. Temperatures will drop steadily from 1AM Friday night, plunging down to a low of 16 sat night. I never have much luck with high water and fronts coming through with dropping temperatures
I may not be old or wise, but I do know that it ain't always about catching fish or the science behind when and why their biting, sometimes a fun day on the water and meeting new people just might trump actually catching fish

We got a lot more rain than expected in the last 24 hrs and my plans are all busted. Looks like some places got almost 3”.

Spring creek watershed little left. We are somewhat depleted of snow cover. The I99 corridor, mountain tops and hollows still present. Btw, saw olives on spring yesterday. Not enough to get fish up though

Thanks

Point well taken
And I do enjoy meeting other people on the stream
However, when it involves a 3 hour drive to the stream - one way - I like to be sure that conditions are likely gonna be suitable for fishing

Which means having nobody upstream of you. Having another fisherman ahead of you on a small stream will kill your fishing every time. I always get streamside early to avoid that bad dream. I go fishing to catch trout, not to be social. 🙂

Hey i know the, feeling, that's also no small stream though and I'd prefer not to go alone, almost got swept away last year. I'd much rather be with someone on that stream if something happens. But I got my own small stream honey holes that I don't like people with me either

I'm not too worried about finding spots that don't have any people in them unlike what you have to deal with it sounds like.🤷‍♂️

I can see wanting to have a partner on bigger water from a safety standpoint, but I only fish small mountain freestones, where you want the stream to yourself.
It's a very rare day when I encounter another fisherman on the streams I fish. I like that. If I want to be social, I'll go to Church, or an AA meeting. 😉

the peacefullness of catching brookies and wild rainbows is unmatched, if someone asked me to go on a two mile trail hike id say no, but id be delighted to if its in a creek

Thanks

dryfly, sometimes they just have to touch the stove LOL

Ah you would make Jifigz proud.
Our paths are bound to cross at some point. And when I see you, I'll say "what ya doin' in my waters?"

That picture was me last year. Since then, I have cut my hair short, and I quit smoking cigarettes. He might see me with a vape while out there now though. I will typically be tossing minnies on my fly rod. That way, I can fish em far away and really control em.

When the fish are rising, I'll fish a dry fly. But if nothing is happening, I'll be swimmin' my minnes.
