Hello all,

I'm trying to get my fly box in order before heading up to the Cross Fork area of Kettle Creek in 2 weeks. My plan is to do a mix of hatch matching/dry dropper on Kettle with some general prospecting on the tribs to the north of Cross Fork. Does anyone have any info on what might be hatching around that time? I was thinking of tying up some March Browns and Slate Drakes, as my caddis/stimi and sulphur slots are pretty full up at the moment.

Thanks in advance,

Kettle has a tendency to get warm by June, but this year will probably be different with the cooler temps. and higher rainfall. What sections of Kettle are you going to fish? Above Ole Bull is mostly wild fish.

I was planning on fishing Kettle up around Germania and hitting some of the tribs around that area as well.
I wish that I could go with you. Looks to me like you have it covered. March browns or any Adams like pattern will work.

Thanks salmo. Can't wait. I was up there for the first time last August and fished a trib below Cross Fork after a t-storm and had my first 10+ fish day since I started fly fishing last year. Been dreaming about that area ever since.

I usually fish Kettle every June, and you need to have sulphurs and march browns. Otherwise, generic fly patterns are all you need.
I am looking to go up this week for the first time. I am a nymph fisherman. Any suggestions on nymphs and sizes?

it's about time you fish dries! 😎 Head up to the headwaters and all you need is an elk hair caddis. Take a dozen elk hair caddis in sizes 10- 14. Some tippet....maybe an extra leader, frog's fanny & nippers. No need to take a backpack with tons of gear!

Don't forget some parachute Adams and ants!

I like selective trout, this happened to me today. Awesome day.

Can confirm the mountain stream brookies are hungry and looking up! Caddis and stimulators were the ticket yesterday. Flows are about as good as it gets, too.
