Btw, anyone else notice that 37160s are huge?...

...It would also be interesting to compare vintage 37160 hooks in the old white cardboard box to the same size hook sold today to see if there is a difference in sizes or if there were smaller sizes available....

I just noticed on the latex caddis recipe from the old "Index of Orvis Fly Patterns" I posted earlier, it calls for the Mustad 37160 in sizes 12 - 22.

That leads me to speculate the 37160 WAS available in smaller sizes at one time...

There’s size 26 available on the ‘bay.

Feathercraft used to list these in their catalog as the best hook for brassies.
I bought them from there and typed a bazillion brassies ,which work really well.
I have used these for caddis,sowbugs/scuds and an awful lot of soft hackles.
