Cabin Rentals

Those cabins in WV are nice (Harman's North Fork Cottages). I have stayed there 2 times in the last few years. They stock their section of the river with very large browns and bows. Fun to catch for sure. Go early in the season though. Water in the summer gets low and the fish stack up in the deep pools. Also, good brookie and wild rainbow streams nearby.

 
CLS, I was looking at their April vacancies for 2012, and they are pretty much wide open. Very intrigued
 
Hmm, campgrounds is one thing and your choices would be endless. Cabins is another, and not nearly as simple.

Black Moshannon has cabins that are within easy walking distance of the lake, and really, its very walkable to the stream below as well. The lake would be primarily warmwater fish, they do stock trout below and it is special reg. There are wild brookie streams within a few minute drive.

I stayed in some cabins in Coudersport before, with Mill Creek running through the back yard, which is class A wild browns and also has brookies. I could find the place if prompted, and if they still exist.

Worlds End State Park I believe has cabins. I'm not familiar with where exactly the cabins are and if it's walking distance to anything. But the Loyalsock runs through the park, and I bet the cabins are in walking distance. Most of the tribs are full of wild trout, though I have no clue whats in walking distance.

I think Ole Bull and Hyner Run both have like 1 rentable cabin each. There's fishing in walking distance to both.

Linn Run is in the Laurel Highlands and has cabins on a brookie stream.

That's all I got for public places. There very likely are private campgrounds and cabins within walking distance of trout streams. Also, B&B's, if you wanted to go that route, but my impression was you wanted something more woodsy and private.
 
I stayed at Harmans last winter with my wife. The cabins are all within walking distance of the water. Plus, if you are a guest of Harmans you do not have to buy a permit to fish their water. It was a really good time.
 
worlds ends cabins are right on the sock actually in a section that they used to close during the spawn don't know if they do now though. some nice brookie streams within a five minute or so run as well the place i posted has a nice small stream right in front of it . cooks forest cabins are on the clarion with smaller trout streams throughtout neat place to .
 
I'm pretty sure the cabins at World's End were heavily damaged in the flood in early September. the creek was flowing around both ends of the bridge across the swimming area.

A few cabins may be closed, but the bulk of them are open for reservations. The cabin bridge, however, took a beating, and that is the second time it washed out within two years. The cabins at Worlds End sit right down by the creek; I've taken a winter retreat there the past few years.
 
My wife and I like to stay for a week every year in the high peaks of the Adirondacks and fish the west branch of the Ausable. We stay in this cabin which is right on the river and in a very private setting. Once you stay here you will want to go back every year. The price for what you get is incredible and you can fish almost off the back porch.

Not arguing with you, just curious as to why you need a NY license? I thought that either NY or PA licenses were valid anywhere on the WB. No? Just don't want to get in trouble.

I undestand that is quite a statement, but I would call it the best also. I haven't fished anything better.

Gotcha. Thanks! The only times I ever fished there were before I moved to PA and we always bought NY licenses so I guess I never payed it much mind. Just remember running into PA guys and crossing over to fish from the PA side.
 
Above the PA State line is no longer border waters. WB CG is above the border about a mile.


From PFBC Regs;
West Branch Delaware River – From the Pennsylvania/New York border downstream to the confluence with the East Branch of the Delaware River.

Artificial-Lures-Only season runs from October 16 until 8 a.m. on the opening day of the trout season.
Fishing may be done with artificial lures only, constructed of metal, plastic, rubber or wood, or with flies and streamers constructed of natural or synthetic materials. All lures may be used with spinning or fly fishing gear.
The use or possession of natural bait, baitfish, fishbait, bait paste and similar substances, fish eggs (natural or molded), or any other edible substance is prohibited.
The daily creel limit of trout is zero (0) during the artificial-lures-only season.

I stand by what I've said, I would hardly call the Delaware the best fishing in the east, heck it isn't even the best fishing in PA.
Getting back to the topic at hand though, many private CG's have cabins for reant, by the day, week or what ever.

Okay....the best big wild trout river in the East (the word "big" refers to both the river itself, and the fish). All just IMHO, though...YMMV.
