Biking and Fly Fishing

right pc, and trout in the beginning walking up hill will cost you less energy(you wount be pushing a bike), but as you ride more and your endurance builds you will use less and less energy(pedaling more and pushing less).

and another thought, i WOULD NOT ride in waders! too much risk in getting very expensive pants caught in a chain ring, the you gots the wet foot!

i would say the best entry way of doing this would be, ride the easier trails/roads, that you know. maybe start riding more on the side(before/after work couple times a week). get your muscles used to riding, then hit the more advanced/tech trials. or hike it first and if you think you can efficiently ride it, you know for the next time.

Hey Pcray,

I had two subarus, a 91' and a 99' Legacy and the back seats used to fold down allowing me to use both the trunk space and rear passenger area. Just fold the rear seats down, pop the front tire off, and slide the bike in with the handle bars turned sideways.

Check for a latch for you rear seats, I don't know if the newer Legacy models still have folding rear seats, or what model you have. You shouldn't have a problem with any of the wagon versions. The impreza I'm not so sure about.

I have a Specialized CrossTrail 29" that I use all the time when I fish the Gunpowder. Works great. I have yet to rig up rod rack yet. I ususally just strap it down on the rear rack.

Jake, I have folding rear seats and it is nice, with backseats folded it's about as much room as a small pickup bed. One problem. Child seats.

The best trail near me is Stoney Creek , Dauphin county . Park at the gate and you can ride in as far as want. There are plenty of trout back there year round, just find a nice pool. I usually do this ride about 6 times / year, but never did it during January / February.
