I am not waiting for cooler days to fish, not because I am actually fishing but because I have been busy. I get busy with family activities and housework this time of year. I just put up a pool and am working on landscaping around it. Starting to harvest the garden. Kids start school tomorrow so have been helping them get ready for that. Taking advantage of some available overtime and side work. The second I get some free time Ill head straight to somewhere to catch some trout.....in the morning or evening, there are a few cards up my sleeve to ethically fish in this weather.
And there are always bass but they just don't interest me like they used to. Have had the kids out to a local farm pond a few times recently.
THIS!
(I have 7 kids: ages 8-26. For some brilliant reason, Iowa State, U Iowa, Kirkwood Community College, Regis Middle School, All Saints Elementary School are ALL starting this Monday! My poor wife is all kinds of worked up trying to figure out how to be in 3 places at once!
Not too mention the garden (remember all those tomato plants I planted in June? Great! Now they are loaded with the most lovely tomatoes, now what? ), the chicken coop needs cleaned, and the new vineyard side project. But wait, there's more: just got emails from the kids new soccer coaches-fall soccer practice starts this week!, choir director emailed their show choir competion schedules!
So, yes, it gets busy fast-especially this time of year for some-but remember to stop and smell the roses too, I figure I'll have plenty of time to rest someday in a box somewhere)
BTW, A significant portion of my tomatoes are slated for BLT suppers. 🥓🍅🥪 I highly recommend this simple meal.
With over 3 weeks of vacation I need to burn before the end of the year, sneaking away to fish next week after this cold front settles down is almost mandatory.
