Anyone else waiting for Cooler Days?

Keeping you on your toes. I was looking at the "New Jams" thread the other day and I noticed that most of the "new jams" were old jams posted by old guys. Lol. That made me think of King Crimson's first album and how I thought it might make a cool avatar.

I'm not sure how long I'll keep it.. We'll see..
You could always replace it with a GD Steal Your Face. 😉

Meh. I'm a guy who knows quite a bit of music and I love many kinds, but I've always found the dead to be only okay.

The Dead just never did it for me.

This is my third avatar since on this site. Avatar #1 was Wilco's Summerteeth Album..Avatar #2 was the duck from Duck Hunt. Avatar #3 is King Crimson.. And I already have the album cover for Avatar #4 in mind....

Damn, crazy that I remember the Wilco avatar before I knew who was who on here.

I'm a late in life Dead convert - largely through my wife and eventually seeing this Greg Ginn photo:

But I've slowly become a Dead advocate. Let me offer (though you might be familiar):

A more longstanding curiosity for me has been username @WeekendNacho

I don't think they've been seen for awhile, but I wonder where their handle comes from.

I am not waiting for cooler days to fish, not because I am actually fishing but because I have been busy. I get busy with family activities and housework this time of year. I just put up a pool and am working on landscaping around it. Starting to harvest the garden. Kids start school tomorrow so have been helping them get ready for that. Taking advantage of some available overtime and side work. The second I get some free time Ill head straight to somewhere to catch some trout.....in the morning or evening, there are a few cards up my sleeve to ethically fish in this weather.

And there are always bass but they just don't interest me like they used to. Have had the kids out to a local farm pond a few times recently.
THIS!

(I have 7 kids: ages 8-26. For some brilliant reason, Iowa State, U Iowa, Kirkwood Community College, Regis Middle School, All Saints Elementary School are ALL starting this Monday! My poor wife is all kinds of worked up trying to figure out how to be in 3 places at once!

Not too mention the garden (remember all those tomato plants I planted in June? Great! Now they are loaded with the most lovely tomatoes, now what? ), the chicken coop needs cleaned, and the new vineyard side project. But wait, there's more: just got emails from the kids new soccer coaches-fall soccer practice starts this week!, choir director emailed their show choir competion schedules!

So, yes, it gets busy fast-especially this time of year for some-but remember to stop and smell the roses too, I figure I'll have plenty of time to rest someday in a box somewhere)

BTW, A significant portion of my tomatoes are slated for BLT suppers. 🥓🍅🥪 I highly recommend this simple meal.

With over 3 weeks of vacation I need to burn before the end of the year, sneaking away to fish next week after this cold front settles down is almost mandatory.

I'm looking forward to some cooler days, I've had the windows open in the mornings here in Chester County the last couple days.

At the end of September I'll be off of work for two weeks and have two back to back trips planned, one to Maine to fish, and another to Wyoming to go see the Grand Tetons. Then right back in the groove of PA fall fishing.

Cooler weather on tap next week here in PA, with overnight lows in the high 40s to low 50s and daytime highs in the high 60s low 70s. Dew Points in the low 40s will help make it feel like fall.
That should make the smallmouth bass in some rivers start to get more active, and perhaps some walleye will move out of the deep. The trout might be too smart, knowing that the heat will return again before real fall.

I love the fall for many reasons but the feel is one of the best reasons. I've been early morning and late evening fishing terrestrial when the water is cool enough and the trout are still hitting.

Big Wilco fan here. Have seen them multiple times.
I used to love Wilco, and I listened to them a lot through all of their albums up until about Wilco's self titled album. That was the last one I cared about or listened to. I still listen to their old back catalogue from time to time.

They were pure gold from their debut all the way through Sky Blue Sky. The self-titled was okay. I don't really know anything they've released after that.

We are on the same page there. Sky Blue Sky is a complete masterpiece in my opinion. One of those albums that defined the period of life I was in at the time. Everything runs it's course though.

When I return to Wilco, I listen to Sky Blue Sky more than any other, but Summerteeth will always be my favorite.

Have you guys ever noticed that grocery stores play obscure music most shoppers don't know? Just today, I stopped at Lewistown Giant, and Wilco's "Can't Stand It" was playing. I was jamming as I grabbed my supper food.

We have a thing in Iowa called 'False Fall' LOL

I think that's what we are going to get this weekend, briefly; I'll take it.

Speaking of streamers, what's everyone's favorite for tempting those big pre-spawn fall browns? Over the years, I've had the most luck with #14 or #12 Hornberg.
Having fished streamers since 2002 primarily on the WB I use only three streamers. All Clousers in sizes #4 - #1/0. If you consistently want big browns use big flies. All my really big browns, over 22", have been caught on at least a #1 if not bigger. It won't be as much fun if I tell you the colors I use. Experiment.
