"West Conewago Creek Near Manchester, PA"​

My weekly check of the water flow map has left me wondering how accurate it is. I realize the storms that swept through last weekend wouldn't have been enough to turn it all green. My question is how only West Conewago Creek was refilled while the surrounding creeks are still really low?

Not really a burning question, but I like to at least get an estimate of conditions before driving up there.

I use this listing of flows (below) for PA streams and rivers all the time. Look at the "long term median flow" in the third column. Nearly all current flows are lower than that number.

Just a heads up for the folks who aren't crazy about the new USGS site. You can click the "legacy real-time page" and get the graphs (cfs/temp) from the old site, which I like much better.

I don't know a thing about the creek or watershed or the accuracy of that website...

However as I've seen many times in other areas you have to drill down to where the rain actually fell and IF the place where it fell is in the origin area of the stream(s) in question.

Allow me to explain with some local creeks I fish:

The Saucon Creek originates in Lehigh County in the Limeport area while the Bushkill originates in Northampton County near Moorestown yet both are considered Lehigh Valley area streams.

I've seen many times when our dubious weather forecasters will report that "our area" received 2" of rain however the heaviest rainfall was northwest of Allentown while southern Lehigh County gets considerably less.

On those occasions the Bushkill can be blown out while the Saucon is fine...
