What Are You Tying Today?

Headed up to Pine Creek for our 27th annual trout trip on Monday. Looks like 50/50 that Pine will be high (Galeton/Gaines area). Figured I should tie up some larger flies to compliment my usual selection of nymphs:

Felt inspired after watching some Davie McPhail videos. Split wing CDC olive size 16.

Smallish dungeon streamer tied on two size 4 hooks. Don’t have rubber legs in a color that would work so I didn’t use any. Getting the eyes on was easier than I thought it would be; spinning deer hair around it was terrible, though.

Tail - Scarlet duck or goode quill segments
Body - Dark green dubbing
Rib - Light green floss
Hackle - Brown
Wing - Black crow or substitute

I just returned from a trip. I noticed that my parachute post was too short for me to see while on the water. I'll be tying them taller in the future.

I tie all of my parachute posts high, then trim them to fit on the water
