Well, here we go again.
I was just preparing to start grilling for Memorial Day when my brother Sal calls me. The whole family, 6 of them who own the killer sheep field are down on Lititz Run using bait and keeping stringers full of fish in the catch and release ALO area.
He says to the guy that he can't be doing that down here and he replies back that he doesn't give a damn, he owns the land and is going to do it anyway.
Problem #1 - The guy may own that side of the stream but he doesn't on the other side. That is land owned by the Hess farm. So does he own the stream? No. Only the land on that side.
Problem #2 - You would think that for a guy who owns an animal that just hurt someone and broke their leg wouldn't want to push their luck.
Problem #3 - They just put over 700 trout in the Lititz Run Raparian Park area the other week and the park in Manheim on Little Chickies Creek was stocked with 500 trout for a memorial Day Family event for kids.
They could drive 15 min and all catch their limit if so desired. For someone who doesn't give a damn Sal said the family left pretty quick after he walked away and called me on his cell. Seems to me he knew the was in the wrong and was about to get called out on it and hi-tailed it back to the house.
I preceided to call the Lancaster Co. WCO office and let them know about the poaching. Needless to say, I'm going to be going by there more often if nothing more than to just drive by and check to see if I need to make another call.
