61 degrees and sunny...who's going out this afternoon

I would post a report Bill but I don't have much to offer. The water looked good but was cold. Three younger men must have gone astray from the hiking trail and I found them walking down the stream in the upper part of the lower "gorge". I came across a hairless dead fawn stuck underneath a log jam. Saw a rockslide on the lower part of the upper "gorge". I would have stayed longer but I didnt bring a fish to hand yet. The Trout Gods decided it wasn't going to happen for me yesterday on this devilish stream.

Was lucky enough to have my lady with me yesterday. She got some pretty nice photo's of the only trout dumb enough to rise to my fly!

Went last night to the benefit dinner at the (fabulous) Aneu Bistro for Mr. Yang, the generous grocer who helped out Valley Forge TU during the Crabby Creek restoration project, but who got jumped by a couple of punks and was seriously hurt. Since the dinner was early (5:00) I put in 90 min at Ridley, mainly to see how the bottom had changed from the weather and determine where the early brown/black stones were in their cycle.

Lots of peeps enjoying the weather, and quite a few ffishermen (and fishergirls too). But the water was 45º (courtesy of my new $5 Harbor Freight dial thermometer to replace the several digital fancy ones that quit working). A goodly number of stones were emerging, and I could see fish, including trouts, some of which were stocked last week.

But I only found rising in one spot. I hooked one immediately on a crippled emerger, but I guess my unfamiliarity with the new glass Cabela kept me from landing him. Some of my buddies in the audience hassled me for not using cane and blamed that for the loss.

I searched around, and pointed out the monster Palomino (who wasn't rising, even though stones were floating over him) to a young boy, who was very thrilled about the find. So before I left, I returned to the spot where I lost the riser, gave another one the Zen treatment and rose him to a different stone emerger with a shuck and landed him for the kid.

Great day to be out and see some friends. These days it's good to see some of the older pals and know they are up and about. Life can be short.

I fished a Cumberland Valley Limestoner last night from 0400pm-0630pm with Youghness Monster. Fish seemed active, but very little surface activity. Plenty of midges and few olives and stoneflies coming off.

I took 5 fish in those couple of hours including a very healthy 14 inch brown on a self tied sowbug nymph. In all, it was a great little trip. I got bit by a few mosquitos, as well (Amazing at the begining of March).

Youghness Monster made a beautiful cast to a midge sipping brown, which took after a long drift. Unfortunately 7X tippet is not great with a fast action rod, but I'm sure that take will be burnt in his memory for a while.

I had to walk outside a couple of times yesterday and each time I thought I should bail and go fishing.... Seeing the photos here in this thread sure make me wish I had!

once again - Nice fish.

Wow, nice fish. Was on the Monocacy yesterday. Some stoneflys around and a few BWO. Saw no fish and caught none as well. Fished French creek today. Very crowded from 9:30-noon. didn't see anyone catch anything. So two days, no fish, had a blast!

Hey Fox!

Fish Porn??

Glad to see some of you guys got out. I got out yesterday and today, but I feel like I would just be rubbing it in if I said much more than that. Fishing was great for me except for two hours yesterday on a brookie stream where I failed to land a fish. Gave up and moved to a different stream and landed 3 natives in one hour so idk what was up with that first stream! btw, stoneflies everywhere.

On a not so happy note, cracked my camera screen against a rock today...camera still works but I can't see what I'm taking a picture of!

I managed to get out today and enjoy this glorious weather. Fishing was poor - I hit some of my favorite early season bass spots and then Yellow Breeches but didn't have much luck. Still a heckuva nice day!
