So CW showed up at my house to celebrate the holidays with our significant others and brought "baby gifts" since we just had twins 3 months ago. CW told me that he is not a believer in traditional baby gifts so he walks in with this heavy huge box..... I opened it and practically fell on the floor.

Easily the coolest "baby" gift ever! 🙂

Nice. I used to have a Gerstner box just like that with a base. I don't do tool and die work anymore so I sold it back to the company. I still regret it.

Congrats on the twins too.

My grandfather was a tool grinder for Westinghouse. I inherited his toolbox similar to yours but hand made by his father. A real treasure, congratulations!

Now thats what I call real craftsmanship. Very nice. GG

Yes, that is a nice gift. I guess you like fishing with the guy too though - that is what makes someone a "true" fishing buddy. I know lots of guys that could buy me a box likie that but I'd still rather not be in their company on the stream!...🙂lol

Nevertheless, that is a nice gesture. Some of the best gifts I've received have been unexpected from fishing buddies...

WOW! That is nice.
Now I know what to get my daughter when she gives birth.🙂
(Ulterior motive here)

That's a hell of a nice "baby" gift! 🙂 I'm sure quite the shocker!

I have a Gerstner box that was my grandfather's. He worked for Bendix Brake in South Bend, IN. I inherited the box, cleaned it up a bit, but now it sits. Not to hijack this thread, but is there a market for used Gerstner boxes?

WGmiller,
It looks to be in super shape and I think it might be worth more than you might think. Just search Gerstner Machinist box on ebay. I would take it off your hands but I don't have that kind of cash around right now.

I originally thought about using it as a fly tying box, but wanted something more "mobile". Not that it can't be moved around, but as you well know, the Gerstner boxes are stout!

I'll have to nose around on Ebay; thanks for the tip.
