Heading up to the Pocono area next week any suggestion on where I might find some brookies or any wild trout for that matter? I'll be near Tannersville but have no problem driving a bit. Thanks in advance guys!

Nathan

The Class A list has quite a few streams listed for Monroe County, two of which are mixed Brook/Browm so that's a good start. Most of the Class A waters there are brown trout waters. Look at the natural reproduction list too. Those two lists will give you all that you need.

I was looking for some good info on access points and places but thanks for the info I'll check it out. I know a lot of the creeks up there are posted and access can be a real problem. At least thats what I've heard.

Yeah sorry, I can't help you much with that. I'm not familiar at all with the Poconos. But still, there has to be some public access. Check the SGL areas and whatnot.

Devil's Hole Run, Poplar Run, and Cedar Run all have significant public land. Devil's Hole is on SGL and has Brooks and Browns. There you go, you're on your own after that.

You’re right about private land in the Poconos. If it’s private, it’s probably posted, and most landowners I’ve talked with don’t allow fishing (or anything/anyone) on their land up there. Culturally, with respect to land access, the Poconos is far different than central PA.

My advice, don’t bother with private land. There are large tracts of State Game Land and State Forest in that area. Cross reference the PFBC Trout lists with SGL and SF maps…There’s plenty of good streams on public land that should keep you busy for a while.

FWIW also...My experience is that most small wild Trout streams in the Poconos have both Browns and Brookies. Don't overlook streams that the PFBC reports are predominantly Brown Trout streams, as some of these are very good, and most also have Brookies in them.

BE VERY CAREFUL AND WEAR ORANGE!!!

Archery season for deer is open now and rifle season opens Saturday Nov 30th.

FWIW - The Poconos are an absolute zoo during deer season. On more than a few occasions, I heard so much gunfire I packed it in and went to stocked streams, just to scratch the itch to fish.

If it was me, I'd avoid SGL's entirely and maybe just fish the Delayed Harvest section of McMichael's Creek or the FFO section on the Bushkill.

And wear orange there too!!

I dunno guys. Sure there is lots of posted land but i have had zero issues finding places to fish in the poconos. Private or otherwise, there are so many streams to fish its not hard to find something open.

Ive fished a ton in NEPA so my experience here is vast.

Im so confident im not even mentioning streams or access to you.

Download the mentioned lists, get a DeLorme map and have at it.

Thanks guys had a great time not a lot of success some just not a lot. Still had a great time.

Don't get discouraged.

Winter is not the best time of year to fish the mountain streams. It's cold.

On the same streams, if you went out in late May or early June you might do very well.
