Pa Fish and Boat Commission Proposes Additions to the Class A

So Poe Creek? Wonder what the survey showed. Browns to Brookies ratio. And Lititz Run on the wild trout list?? Does that mean they did a survey? I'd love to know the specifics on both of these.

So I just found an article from lancasteronline that claims wild brooks and browns on Lititz Run. It was in the Donegal TU Newsletter. I find that hard to believe. In fact, I thought if anything, there were reports of wild rainbows. Maybe I'm just really out of the loop.

In my 3 experiences in the conservancy it was all rainbows. All appeared wild but what do I know.

Regarding Big Poe it was headwaters above the lake.

So Poe Creek won't be stocked anymore?
Yes, the new Class A is above the impoundment, but there are definitely a fair number of wild fish below the impoundment at times, too. If that lake wasn't there, Big Poe would be great the whole way to Penns. I am not opposed to the lake. I think it is a nice touch. Although a much colder Big Poe feeding Penns would probably help Penns out some, too.

I love spending time at the lake/beach. I'm torn on the issue but I would really like to see what that creek would be like without the lake. It was drained a few years ago but I can't remember if it affected the fishing at all. You would thing every trout below the lake would be heading for Penns or the lowest stretch after Little Poe runs in. Honestly I have never see any evidence of a lot of fish congregating below little Poe. And Little Poe has been a trickle in most recent years anyway.

I like the lake and beach, too. I go swimming there every year. I usually camp there once a year. I also enjoy the different fishery that the lake presents.

It's kind of cool walking Poe's Mouth and seeing some of fish holed up as the stream opens up. The fish will rise to hatches at times. Love seeing rises when it's nice and calm. I seem to remember they didn't find many holdovers when they drained it. I need to spend a month up there when I retire. I just need to call Dave and avoid his month and the week of the jam. We are hitting it for a few nights in late June. If temps are high, hanging out at the lake, hiking the Gum Trail, and drinking cheap beer is not a bad way to spend some time up there.
