The number of fall stocking streams are way down the last few years, but there are a few fall stocking dates listed.
Angler use was very low on many fall stocked waters. As a result, the fall stockings on a number of waters were gradually terminated and the fish were typically returned to the spring program for those waters. Fall stocked trout are not additional trout for a given stream section’s annual allocation; they are shifted from the spring program to the fall program.
Many of those streams (at least here in the southeast corner of the state) that used to get fall stocking have conditions that will not allow most trout to survive the summer. They die or move. Without a fall stocking, there isn't much reason to fish most of these streams in the fall, so the C&R sections that get fall stocking get pounded.
