This past week I attended the 2012 Maine TU Trout Camp. It was held in Solon, Maine from June 24th through June 29th. The camp is run by a man named Greg Ponte, who I had the pleasure of fishing with. I arrived late the first day, due to the fact that the camp started at 1, but I had to be somewhere in Pennsylvania at 11. We ended up leaving Pennsylvania around 12 or so and arrived at about 8. Fortunately enough I didn't miss too much. When I got there, we went over rules and other miscellaneous things for about 3 minutes. I was then allowed to put on my waders and go fishing. What a start to a week! There were a lot of different activities scheduled throughout the week, and each one was extremely interesting. There was a lot of rain, leaving us to not be able to fish a couple of the scheduled in fishing sessions. Anyways, I have over 20-some pictures and a video on there. So if you want to read the whole shabang, click here. Here's a couple:

I like picture #2.

"Gaeron's Revenge".

That'll teach those fish to stop ignoring a well presented nymph!

Thanks Ed! That one's a good one! They sure learned their lesson after that! Remember the rain I was talking about?

Yep, backyard. There's other photos on the blog. I just don't want to clog up the server or whatever you techies call it!

Don't tell me you went to Maine and have no brookie photos to share? Good stuff Gaeron!

How would you compare the Atlantic to the Brown, fight wise?

Albatross-I have no Brookie photo's whatsoever! It's a shame, but now I'm back in PA, so it's too late. I'm glad I just got to visit Maine and attend the camp, the fish were a plus for me!

Gulf-From the photo's, the three fish all look about the same size. So I will just base my assessment off of the conclusion that they are. I thought that the Landlocked Salmon fought much harder than the browns did. I don't know if that's always true, but it was for me. Also, they are very acrobatic and "jumpy" up there. I would be standing and fishing, and 6 feet upstream of me a Salmon would jump clean 2' or so out of the water. It was remarkable.

Man that's one heck of a schedule! Sounds and looks like you had a great time. I was going to do the TU camp in Boiling Springs(my chapter pres. said I would of already been selected through some TU stuff), but I had prior committments so I couldn't do it. Really looks like fun. Those salmon had to have been cool.

The PA Camp in Boiling Springs was really fun too! I attended that one last year. I caught a lot more fish there, but it was a lot more classwork than Maine. Maine was a lot more hands-on. They are both great camps though!
