They're an interesting plant. They grow in clumps (or"colonies") which can be hundreds of years old. The roots of the flowers in the picture could have been there at the time of the American Revolution.

Very fortunate that I can fish and walk Lil in Forbes State Forest just a few minutes away.

Lily is a great dog, well behaved and very friendly but she has the uncanny ability to wade right into the best fishing spots. Hah.

Can find a dozen or so wildflowers along where we walk. I like them
all but my favorite is Jack in the Pulpit.

These pics are from yesterday where I had in previous walks observed a couple larger fish. The one I caught was the smaller of the two. You have to remain out of sight or you’re not gonna catch them.

Saw big clumps of these along Manada Creek a couple weeks ago - at least that's what one of my biology nerds called them.
