Incase anyone wants to see them, the pics from my trip to Lake Placid are up on my website.

Streams fished - Outlet Brook, Gorge Run, West Branch Ausable, Marcy's Brook, Cascade Brook, and a couple of streams that run out of Whiteface Mtn. that I can't remember their names right now. Tried to get to a few more but either ran out of time in the day or hit some posted land. Especially between Saranac and Cory.

Enjoy you bums! 🙂

Nice looking trip. That shot with your lady on the rocks really shows the mountains and how big they are. Just got back from WV and was really impressed with their mountains as well.
Now all you got to do is set some time aside for this fall and the Erie tri..............ah forget it. 🙂

looks like a great trip! I love the adirondacks, those that have never been there just can't imagine how big the woods are there, soooo much more wilderness than pa. I'm heading that way early september on the bike, never fished anywhere up there yet, might have to strap the 5 piece on the back!! what do they charge for a temp out of state license?
thanks for sharing!

I'm leaving tomorrow for my 10 days each summer in the ADK's. Can't wait to get there. It is an awesome wilderness.

Non-Resident License Fees (2008-2009) Non-Resident License Type Fee
Annual Fishing $40.00
7 day Fishing $ 25.00

Also the annual fee for non-residents has been rasied to $70 for the next season (beginning Oct 1.)

It is actually only 2,000 square acres smaller than Yellowstone.

Dan, I'll take you up on that. I want to go this year. I need to get a rod for steelies but I'll buy a 9wt for up there by fall. I'm game if you drive.

Ooooohhh! What a spectacular offer! I even get to drive?

Theres no going for less than a three day for me, but if you bug me about it when the time comes, it will happen. 🙂

Got my first centerpin a couple months ago.

Adirondack Park is huge!

"The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 by the State of New York amid concerns for the water and timber resources of the region. Today the Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, greater in size than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park combined. The boundary of the Park encompasses approximately 6 million acres, nearly half of which belongs to all the people of New York State and is constitutionally protected to remain “forever wild” forest preserve. The remaining half of the Park is private land which includes settlements, farms, timber lands, businesses, homes, and camps.

I'd say I'd drive but after 11 hours in the car Sunday and an all day trip to State College and back on Monday, thinking about driving anywhere, at the moment makes me sick to my stomach. Come fall that may change.
I could do 3 days. I have a few vacation days left I usually save for fall trout stockings.

More pics have been uploaded. The first batch was from my Blackberry. The new ones are ones my wife Cheryl took w/ the digital camera. Most are from High Falls Gorge and Whiteface and 2 really good ones of the kids on the trip home. LOL!

I'm heading to Lake Placid this evening for a few weeks and looking forward to some decent fishing. Besides trout, I will be getting out a new 7wt and looking for some pike on Lake Oseetah and Kiwasa.

Spectorfly, and recommendations for some native brookies?

Raven,

I stayed at a cabin on Kiwassa Lake two years ago with my wife. The smallies in the Lake were both fiesty and quite easy to come by. I just worked a popper along the shoreline and around the island and had a ball.

The scenery and fishing is great up there - enjoy!

I am extremely fortunate to have in-laws that residde in LP year-round. I have fished Kiwassa and Oseetah pretty often with spin gear from the boat but this will be my first fly excursion there. i'll post some pics if I capture anything on camera worth sharing.
