My friend builds very nice inflatable catarafts, call Shredder - Airtight Inflatables.
His shop is located in Meadow Run, Ohiopyle area. They are the best floats I know.
He sells them for 2000 all over US and abroad. If you are interested contact Tom direct or send me pm. Super nice guy. Pictures are from his shop.

Alby, Dave,2nd Dave and myself plan to have a float from Confluence to Ohiopyle soon. Stay tuned.

i know people who have shredders and really like them

... but i would never think of using it for fishing

wow those look great. I would have never thought about using one of those for fishing but because of this post I am going to contact him. Maybe a new boat in my future.

Looking forward to the float Jared. Should be a good time.

Hey I'm headed out there tomorrow morning, any advice? I'll be parking in the ohiopyle parking area and biking from there.

The water is low, so many typically unreachable spot are game on. Just ride up until you see an inviting spot. There are fish throughout. What is list the above hatch list plus terrestrials and streamers.

Thanks!

what about wet wading? I heard about didymo being found so I thought I would just keep my gear at home.

tim -

Even at low flows, the yough is tough wading. You oughta wear wading boots - preferably with studs.
And expect the water temp to be in the low '50's - pretty cold for wet wading IMO.
FWIW - the didymo hasn't been detected above ohiopyle yet. However, I still clean my boots with a bleach solution after fishing there now

I think the didymo is pervasive from the dam on down at this point.

See our (Skybay, Student, and I) report in the Stream reports section. How'd you do Tim?

thank you to all who helped me out last minute. I was in town for business and to take the fam out. had to take the rods with me on the rail trail. all in all a very successful 30 minute session on the shore. you guys aren't kidding about that river being un wadable. the hole I was working went from shore to 12' in about 3 feet!

here's the fruits of my labor, I tied this wooly special for the "yock" (apparently thats how you ay it) lot's and lot's of weight in that bugger, but it worked!

I'm glad you enjoyed the Yough...you got yourself a nice Smallie 🙂

A nice smallie indeed. The Yough is definitely tough wading as I can attest. Went in face first after trying to 'climb' an unseen boulder in front of me. I was at least refreshed by the mid day swim.

My personal opinion is to never use an inflatable to float a large river on creek as a platform to fish. Having said that, they are used all the time, particularly out west for getting down river, so someone besides me does it.
