Oh what fun it is when you have to put on several layers of clothes, put on two pair of gloves and break the ice off the eyelets every 3rd or 4th cast!! I forgot my chapstick!!! I did manage to catch 1 stockie rainbow about 18"on a beadhead prince. Had him/her out of the water for about 4 seconds. Yes even this time of the year I will wet my hand to handle the fish. With it being this cold and having to clear my guides of ice, my 8'4" renegade will be an inch shorter once I repair it. Eventially I will throw out my backup rod and purchase another.

Nice. where did u go?

It's not too bad out here today...

I was out yesterday afternoon and it wasn't too bad. Stung one on a midge.

Im in philly so I went to Pennypack park just off of bustleton. Yea no wind today was great for trout fishing.

Ah Bustleton Ave. worked that area for 15 years during the housing boom..

Some slush ice on the LSR this morning. It was gone by Noon.
Fish were fairly cooperative.

vasaline and hemos...never leave home with out either in winter.
hemos tear up flies but keep hands warm.

I was out saturday morning at day break. real feel temps were -2 🙂. I managed 4. 1 was about a 16" rainbow. All were caught on red beadhead pheasant tails with red wire.

Went to land the big one and my net was froze solid. Looked like I was trying to land a fish with a frying pan. I had to dunk the net in the water and get it flexible again. I kept the fish in the water as best i could. Even held the one to revive it a bit. Needless to say the next several minutes after were spent with my rod on the bank and hands in pockets. LOL

I love getting out in the winter, definetly my favorite time to fish. I had to get the ice off of the eyelets about every 4th cast. I did switch to a little stream fishing, with the way the stream obsticals were i had to let some of the fly line in the water. Boy that was interesting having my fly line have ice freez the whole way arouding. Made casting very difficult.

I'm going out for seveal days on the ice.

I was out yesterday, also. I'm gonna change my screen name to Pepe LaPew

I was out Sun. and managed 2 six inch native Browns. In my area it was actually pleasant, sunny and around 40 degrees. didn't see any fish rising but there were small bugs in the air
