fly tying supplies

As a beginner in fly tying I was wondering who has the best deals in materials? Slowly I have to build up my inventory and I would like to get the best deals for the buck?

First and Foremost always try to support your local fly shop. If one is not nearby, check out some of the links on this site. You could always go th EBAY route as some sellers are quite large and have a good selection of tying supplies. Hope this starts you on your path. I started 40+ years ago and I still am adding to the collection. Hope your house is big enough for all of the stuff you are going to buy!!!! LOL!

there are several important suppliers .

if you live near philadelphia/media i can suggest the sporting gentleman .

there are two suppliers out of state i like,one is joe fox /dette trout flies in the catskills .

another is jim slattery,he has a site but i get it from him on ebay.

my number one source of materials other than those stated above is feather craft in saint louis.they have a great catalog and do traditional mail order

Supporting your local fly shop is always a good idea, if they in fact have materials on hand. My local shop is Yellow Breeches Outfitters, recently under new management. I went in yesterday to buy materials to tie CJs, and he had nothing. Claimed the owner won't buy material/tools until the winter tying season starts again. Frustrated...
