I had a lovely morning in the Laurel Highlands of SWPA catching holdover trout. The flows were extremely low, but the water temps were cool. The low flow and clear water forced me to use a longer leader and lighter tippet than I normally would. I caught about a half dozen trout this morning including brown, brook, and rainbow (didn't see a golden). All but one fish took dries, the exception took a white body zebra midge pupa with a black bead head. On top, all trout came to small flies (18-24). A number 18 black parachute ant was the top producer.

Its going to be a great fall and winter with all these holdover fish!

Thanks for the report...It's good to hear so many fish held over.

Congrats on hitting for the cycle, too!!!

It was cool to hit for the cycle. First time I remember doing it for sure, but I don't always pay attention.

I hope others are enjoying the fall fishing!

When my wife and I were still traveling with our camper, one of the streams I always wanted to try was oil creek, for the fishing and the history of the area, sorry to say I never made it there.

Im sure it would have been a interesting trip!
