Tied up some sand eel patterns using some fur clipped off of my Golden Retriever

Color and durability seem great, we'll see I guess

Anybody ever use pet hair on your flies? lol

..kinda can't wait to hear the responses to this post

Should be in Florida with that-guy told that's what reds and trout are feeding on-eels.

I was in a tying class and this guy brings in his secretary's hair for tying material. I asked him if his wife knew that he was banging the secretary yet.

Next fly swap, I'll make sure I use some really special hair for all y'all...

I think you cut the picture off-

Yeah, Pete's right, its way buggier than that.

I tried to use fur off my wife's pet rabbit and guinea pig once. That did not go very well. She was not amused!

Did you kill them first? Plucking fur is not nice. Gotta kill them. Then you are good.

Hmm, no comment. :-D

Mmmmmmmm pet rabbit and guinea pig, I raised guinea's, roasted they are great. And Rabbit just like the wild only better.

I am not a believer in domestic fur for tying, something about scent in my book. just would rather use the wild stuff. Fun fur in tan would work for those sand eels.

I use feathers off of my bird.

I used to shave little patches off our old cat...great dark grey nymph material and I don't like cats. My wife would get furious when she saw those little bald spots. I argued that I never hurt the cat!
New cat's hair is not so good...so I have to find more creative ways to torture it!

About the sandeel in specific...that dog will bark. I wish I had a few of those when I lived in MA!!!

I've used hair from my Aussie to make scuds. And have caught fish on them. There's a 20" Letort brown that felt the sting of a Josie-Hair Scud.

There's an old timer that guides on the Big Hole who allegedly uses his girlfriends pubes in his ties.

mrchunk, Not sure if that "Pube Fly" will catch trout, but I'll bet it's good for catching crabs!
