There's nothing better than hands-on help from someone who's been there. As in a prior post, check your local fly shops for free/limited cost tying classes. Also, a local TU chapter may offer them. Our RRTU chapter in east central Jersey has free tying classes twice a month. Our head instructor teaches techniques, materials, and then flies you'll be using in local streams/rivers during the next few weeks. We also have an advanced instructor, as well as all the other tiers in the room who will offer advice and show you tips and tricks. It doesn't get any better than that...
