Hi

I was thinking about making a trip to go fish at spring creek near Brenner springs. Anyone have any reports if there is considerable ice or if it is frozen over?

On New Years Day there was quite a bit of ice at Fishermans Paradise.

Areas with the most spring water influence are open.

From Bellefonte to the mouth was open.

There was some ice going upstream from Bellefonte, i.e. above Logan Branch.

But then further up it was mostly open, because of the water coming from the hatchery at the Paradise, which is fed by large springs.

Immediately above the hatchery return flow there was a lot of ice.

I wasn't up at Benner Spring. But probably below the influx of Benner Spring, and the return flow from that hatchery, there should be some open water.

BTW, there is quite a bit of ice on Fishing Creek in the Narrows, too.

Limestone streams will freeze over, once you get far enough downstream from the major springs, and when it gets cold enough.
