where's the faucet-
okay,Thought you were joking at first since it looks like a sink.
Nice-where do you use them.Didn't see one in the dog on line vid,,,
Boats,beach?

pete,
rivers, beach---stripers a must on beach and river. steelhead, sm. bass, trout on upper delaware when casting long..bone fish, permit etc. when wading..

I thought your retired form the salt ?

I was thinking one of those would be nice yesterday when I was swinging the lower Chagrin. You make this nice spey cast, but the line you want to shoot is laying on the water surface and doesn't all go out. Ok, I was lying about the "nice" spey cast...I mean when I do it. The guys I fish with have wonderful looking casts.

Patrick, did you hook anything on the Chagrin?

I did not. One of the other 2 guys with me hooked 2 and landed one. We were all swinging. There were other guys catching fish yesterday. Saw a guy catch one on a spinner and the bait guys were catching fish. There are a few fish to be had.

Fredrick,
I will never retire from the salt its in my blood. just taking a little rest. looks like we are headed straight to Maine then the cape as of now...got six plugging and spinning rods and 3 fly rods...close to 200 lures and fly's.

Sandfly, what are the fly boxes on the side made out of and how did you attach them to the basket? I really like that idea, gives you flies right at hand.

Looks like rivets to me . Hey Sandy I want to see some pics .

OK here we go--
this is not a new idea just new boxes. Original ones were VCR boxes modified by cutting the circles out where the tapes fit then gluing them to the sides of the shooting basket. nice but not perfect for me. I bought these picture boxes(5 x 7) at Joann fabrics to make fly boxes for my salt and bass flies. I also bought the cases to carry them (lots of flies in a small box) of course anything larger goes into my large fly boxes. I set them on the basket and drilled 3 holes 2 at top and one bottom. I then used rivets to hold them making sure the head was inside the basket so line would not catch. I put a small flat washer on inside of fly box to strengthen them at the rivet also.

Nice.
I used to have a fly box attached to mine with velcro but I found that my basket was constantly getting splashed and soaked with salt water. I had set mine up so that the part of the box with the flies opened downward, like a chest fly box. Plus, I tend to swing the basket around to my side or back much of the time and often the fly box wasn't accessible.
I gave it up - at least that was my experience.
As they say around here, "YMV."

sandfly,
do you use gurglers alot for salt?

not really that is just my storage box, I like skipping bugs, bob's bangers, and kaboom poppers.(large cup face)

Some of those flies look like kites to me :).

One thing I learned the hard way is to have two baskets. One with drain holes for the surf and another without for wading rivers and bays. I simply made mine from wash basins. Just another thing to think about.
