On Wednesday evening and Thursday morning my Dad, uncle & I stayed at my uncle's cabin in Sullivan Co. and we fished the pond behind the cabin. I caught about 15 bass, 10 over 4 pounds, on the fly rod. The hot fly was a #2 black Stumpbuster (the pond was loaded with newts, the main forage). I caught most on my 6 WT.
I also caught one over 4 pounds on my son's brookie rod (7.5 foot 4 WT, 4x tippet). I was coming back form a hike up the pond inlet (looking for beaver dams and trout) when I spotted the big bass sunning in the shallows of the pond...I couldn't resist! It was pretty ridiculous fighting a fish like that on such a small rod.
I am officially spoiled! :-D
It was great to see my 78 year odl dad catch a few, too. He used to be a serious fisherman but only fished once a year with me now.
