I enjoy fishing for crappie with my flyrod as a change of pace. Usually when the water is in the low to mid 50's the fish turn on. There are quite a few lakes in Virginia that fish well. Anna,Chickahominy and Diaschund are a few. Locally I have caught small fish and once in a while a keeper so to speak. It would be nice to find some good local fishing.

Lake Redman, York Co. It is along Rt 83 south of York. There may be other places closer to home for you.

Grubb Lake outside Marietta holds some really nice slabs but the fishing tricky. It has heavy brush around most of lake and one or two shear cliffs.... That all makes it fun I Think.

When do you fish Redman. Also, were is Grubb lake? I will try to find info on the web. I fished redman 2 or 3 times only caught a few dinks. Thanks for the sharing the info.
