Hey guys, so i haven't posted for a while, been real busy past few months. I haven't even sat down a the bench since probably april. Fall is approaching and im ready to get out to start fishing again after battling my lyme disease. Being that said, back to the fishing, i think im going to try to swing alot of streamers this fall year as i never really do. Its amazing from only a few months away from the bench and how you, or atleast i, forget so many steps for tying certain flies.

Im wondering if some of you who see this thread could state your favorite streamer pattern and also the materials needed for them. THanks again, need to get back into this.

I like the Shenk's White Minnow. You need white zonker strips. Catch the rabbit fur in a dubbing loop (I use wire so the fly gets a little weight) and wind into a dubbing brush. Then just wind forward. Trim to the shape of a minnow. oops first step is tie in a few maribou plumes for a tail. :-D

If all of that is too much trouble or the zonker strips too expensive, try a white wooleybugger. It doesn't have quite the fullness or the same profile, but it's still very effective.

I tied a dozen shenks white minnows with some white fluff fur in a dubbing loop. No clue where it came from, how expensive it was, or what kind of animal it was. Haha. Pad's right though, zonker strips are way better to work with.

I've tied the shenks minnow with white wool, but the zonker strip makes a much nicer fly. If you wind the loop really, really tight, the fur stands up straight off the hook and when you fish it the hair will flair and compress with a swimming motion.

The wool is cheap though. ;-D
