Need some advice for going after what appear to be a good number of Carp in the shallow end of the lake but easily within casting from shore.... Very thick sub-surface weeds ...

Thanks
Frank

It would help if you specified a little more...fly selection, rigging, presentation.
What are the carp doing? Actively feeding? heads down? looking up?

Just generically, I would start with a small white or black bugger, or a hare's ear. Using a floating line and fairly long leader, cast several feet in front. As the carp approaches, give a few twiches. I would use an unweighted fly to try and keep it on top of the weeds.

David... Thanks.... As for the Carp activity all I can say is they typically show their dorsal fins, now and then break the surface with a splash and I can't say I've seen them "looking up" or surface feeding... Your suggestions will be put forth and I hope my future reports are of success... Then again, the end result ultimately matters not to me.. It's fishin much more than catchin eh...
