Yeah, anyone's who's followed Gierach over the last few (few? [oh, my!] ) decades has to like this. Aside from first rate meditative writing on fishing, Gierach has made so many folks from AK Best to Ed Engle to Mike Clark to Koke Winters, part of our fishing/reading idiom.
