Not to be overly critical here, but laying trout on the dry ground/rock/log like you did in many of these photos is not good practice unless your keeping them. Otherwise most will succumb to fungus and die in a few days or weeks. Try keeping them in (or partly in) the water the water like this:

you know i have heard that before but im curious to know what the ratio of death is. i have been fishing this stream for 3 years + now and have caught some of those same fish over 5 times. they are all still alive. now i didnt want a debate on the photos.....what did you guys think?

SALVELINUS Is that a private stream or is it public? Just curious.

I always try to keep fish in the water. And when I can't I, I don't take the picture. This isn't because I'm so virtuous. I just don't take a lot of "fish porn" shots. I have a couple, and I guess a couple are enough.

Anyway, I don't think the percentage of fish that get die or even just sick from having the slime taken off is high. But we all (more or less) work hard to reduce incidental mortality as much as possible. Keeping the fish in the water is a good way to reduce mortality. So I'd recommend it. If you haven't been doing so up to this point, it might be something to consider starting. But don't let anyone beat you up over not doing it in the past.

thanks pad...
generally i dont even take pics of fish. but i forget who it was, want to see some of the big brookies i catch. so here are some.
generally if i take a pic, i just hold the fish. unfortunatly these fish are strong and very angry....been caught and released before and dont like it much :-D so they are hard to handle and snap a shot.

i call the stream my stream-but by now way is it private. it is public. you just have to find it :-D
