This is related to the other topic, but I thought it merits its own. That way future generations can easily find it with a quick perusal/search..

but anyway.

I was told about this a year ago, and finally got around to checking it out. Needless to say, I'm going to spend considerably more time fishing in my own neck of the woods this year. (for fishing's sake. Still no pristine trout streams... still need a car for them.)

If you love fishing for the idea of getting out and spending some time with buddies, then it looks pretty good IMO. I have no problems dunking worms for big catfish and carp.

It's a message board for fishing in philly.

I believe it's affiliated with this site, which I believe to be run by someone out of Temple.

Lots of eye opening info there. enjoy!

Who needs wild trout in Phila when you have wild striped bass spawning in the Delaware very close to shore and assembling in the Fairmount Dam tailrace (Schuylkill River)a roll cast distance from shore at times? Stripers are numerous in the tailrace in spring. Glad to hear that you are interested in carp and cats. Clearly you have not been struck by trout myopia.

Dear jay,

I wonder if anybody fishes the "3rd hole" on Poquessing Creek between Academy Road and Frankford Ave in NE Philly like I used to do back in the day?

It was a good spot for carp and catfish and eels and beer drinking when I was in my late teens and early 20's.

I grew up in the "wild lands" of Bucks County and my buddies from Morell Park and Parkwood that I worked with during summers off from college in an industrial park outside of NE Airport just off the famous street racing dragstrip of Decatur Road used to call me a "farm boy."

Regards,
Tim Murphy :)
