Thoughts on the rod? I want to do both nymphing and dry fly while out on the water. I thought about buying seperate rods, but the cost is more than I want to spend. I figure with this rod and a nice large arbor reel would suit me just well.

I have the 10 ft 5 wt its a good rod will handle both dry and nymph

Just one more question. Do you think I should get a 3/4/5 line weight reel or get a 56 line weight reel?

Mine is paired with a Risen Fly Ichthus 5/6 reel and 5 wt line

Stowe,

I would worry so much about the # on the reel matching the line weight rating. You will have to be concerned about balance with a rod that long. 5/6 reel will weigh a little more and may help keeping the rod from feeling tip heavy. If you get one of Grey's cartridge reels, you can spool 5wt and 6wt line. You may find that you prefer lighter line on stream "a" and heavier line on stream "b". Not sure but that's what the comp guys say.

For a longer rod like this you will probably want a heavier reel for balance. I'd look at 5/6 models over 3-5 models.
