I have an HMG 5wt from the 1980s. It is a great rod. I was wondering about the new HMG rods, do they have the same action or are they different. I am in the market for a new steelhead rod and Cabelas has the HMGs on sale for 129$. I wanted a 7 weight but I also wanted a butt extension and it only comes with the 8wt rod. So what I am looking at is a 9' HMG 8 wt. rod and any advice is welcome. Thanks.
