Hi,

I joined this site hoping I can get some help! I had a death in the family and had a few fly fishing rods left to me. I've been researching them to try to determine their value but have no clue. They defintiely appear to be older and they came in long, round metal cases.

Would anyone be able to help me if I were to list the information and pictures?

Thank you.

You betcha!

Depending on what exactly they are, you might get referred to other sites too. But there's plenty of people on this board that could help you value them, and I'm sure plenty of people who would be willing to purchase them too if you're selling.

Post pictures and as much information as possible.

Most rods have printed info above the cork handle. Also measure each rod. Take pictures of the handle section, a guide (the small metal piece that the line is put through) and each connection point where the pieces of rods meet. Note any damage; nicks, scuffs, missing guides or eyes, breaks, repairs, etc.

You do that, and it will help drastically. Higher quality pictures, the better.

Welcome. I agree with Ryan. GG

If they are older rods and constructed of bamboo, you may want to give these folks a try.

Thanks everyone. Based on the posts so far it looks like these are fiber glass fly rods. I'm going to take some photos today and get them loaded to the site to see what everyone thinks. There are 5 rods total and one is unmarked with no name, etc. I do have a high quality camera so I should be able to get some good photos.

I appreciate the help!

that's a wonderful steelhead/salmon rod, if my mind serves me correctly, I wanna say a 10wt. not sure what it's worth exactly, but I personally wouldn't take anything less than $100 for it. it may be worth more than that, being unfished and in such awesome condition. I'm just not too familiar with the bigger fenwicks. the guys on the fiberglass board would be able to give you more accurate info, especially the west coasters.

I've gotta tell you, you have a nice little collection there! a bonus is the medalist reel on the heddon!
I'll do a little research and see what I can come up with for you.

Thanks harlansburg, I really appreciate it!

ok, here's some ballpark figures.
rod #2 conolon, $30-60
rod #3, no name, 10-30
rod #4, southbend, bamboo rod, I believe a bass rod, probably a 7wt, I'd say 100-150
rod #5 heddon, the rod, 25-50 the reel, 25-50

Again, these are just ballpark figures, most of the time the value is determined by how bad someone wants a particular rod or reel.
I'm just going on prices I've seen similar rods go for and have sold or bought myself.

I hate when that happens I pretty much just wrote the same thing bikerfish wrote word for word then saw his post and thought well that saves me some typing. Spot on bikerfish. I will add this though all the rods are bass rods some light bass some heavy bass. Some FUN casting rods here for sure.

that Fenwick is a cool rod. I didn't know that they made them with a detachable lower grip, but then again, what I don't know is a lot.

9-10 wt. that has salmon written all over it.

if i were you i'd learn to use them, and keep them.

that is not a bad collection, maybe a little heavy, but that's ok .good for bass ,steel, salmon and even some salt.

fiberglass and bamboo has a wider line range than graphite.you might be able to use that seven as a six for trout.

i would guess that no-name probably is a six.that's what i'd try on it first.

congratulations on some nice rods.

Learn to use them. That would be like telling someone to learn to drive on a Model T. I don't want to rain on the parade but those rods have pretty much no value other than wall hangers. Unless you are someone that wants to fish with glass. Other than the fenwick and the southbend Bamboo the others are almost through ways.
