I came across this pattern while looking for others.

http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern6733.html

What on earth would you possibly use it for other than lunker largemouth perhaps? Gators??

WOW!
The amount of detail that went into that fly would make me never want to fish it

Snakehead?

In all seriousness I assume something from the Pike family maybe.

you do realize that those flies are for show not fish...

That's all well and good but isn't the point of a show fly to be a realistic tie that could be used?

Tying Instructions: Tie on hook. Add five strands of craft wire for each limb. na na na na na na na

Such informative "tying instructions"

I got directions on painting the mona lisa from the man himself, and they were very similar.

Sharing the secrets ruins the art imo.

I love the challenge of tying realistic flies and think I'm half decent with a paintbrush but.....I gotta say some of these things are just ridiculous and carry the art way beyond what I would consider "flies."

Nope. They do it for the challenge. More of a pure than applied art. There are endless arguments about the value of realistic fly tying on the FTF if your into semantics and hair splitting. I think they look nice.

I imagine the instructions would be
1. Place brush in hand
2. Dip brush in paint
Na Na Na Na Na Na

Check this guy out. Had some of his creations in movies, commercials, etc.
