Just came across on Yahoo News....

Residents of this wealthy north-central Pennsylvania vacation community are refusing to lease their land

Of course wealthy residents of a vacation community are not going to accept these lease payments. The devaluation of the land is likely much greater than the lease payments. They are not remotely "taking a stand" but are simply protecting their financial interest.

I agree with jdaddy on this one 100%. When the people who can't afford a pot to pi$$ in or a window to throw it out say get the he!! out of here to the gas companies, that's taking a stand.

But, I love the fact someone is telling the gas companies no, no matter what their reasons are. Those greedy bass turds think they can do whatever they want wherever they want because they've got a bunch of our ELLECTED officials in their pockets allowing them to do it.

I think we need to take a stand in November and vote those bass turds out of office. Problem is that they'd be replaced by people just as bad, if not worse. I'm surprised that nobody that use to live in Texas is running for gov. in PA.

Vote out all the incumbents!!

I mentioned forced pooling in another thread. VCregular was kind enough to provide this link.

http://www.witf.org/news/regional-and-state/4683-bill-would-allow-drillers-to-extract-natural-gas-for-land-of-unwilling-sellers-

It will be interesting to see how this fares in an area like Eagles Mere.It would allow some owners in an area to sell leases and others within the well range would be forced to participate.

Most unfortunatly, if you vote out all of the incumbents, you vote out the severance tax. Which means you vote out any hope of of having funds to repair the damage that will be done to our forests and streams. The natural gas lobby is pushing to scare the state that if a tax is put into effect they will abondon Pennsylvania.
No way! They are just trying to scare people for the biggest profit. I love the commercials that they run on tv where every day people are saying how bad it would be to have natural gas companies taxed. Poor poor gas companies being taxed, how could we do that to them. Give me a break.
There is way too much product for them to walk away from.

P.S. My stance is to get rid of most incumbents as well, but this is the one time in Pa's history that it could be a big mistake.

odtfish, I never really thought of it that way. I think you may have a point! Those commericials are funny. So the gas companys are going to leave. Where are they going to? Funny the gas is here if you want it you will have to follow Pa. rules.

Yea right. Where are they going to go?
