Here's the latest from Mike and the Area 6 PFBC crew on striped bass in the Delaware estuary. Short version is that sampled striped bass populations were roughly average in 2011:

49% of the tagged fish were harvested. Yikes!
 
Funny that site is five minutes from my house thank god I got the SS Tweed now :-D

Addendum: While the report mentions some angler's average catch rates (individuals in one particular group averaged 4 per hour each), I am aware of one trip by a group of three anglers during which 80 stripers between 18 and 33 inches were caught in four hours. One of those anglers caught 40 of those fish.
 
Great to see some GOOD news about fishing / fish populations once in a while. Thanks.
 
Now that I have the yak I can give this a try especially when its so close to home :-D
