The USGS will now text stream flows to your phone or email you.

Get yer geek on !

Now if we can only get the fish to EM, IM, or PM us when they're ready to eat, I'd be interested in that...

Making good notes on the stream when you arrive and throughout a fishing expedition make sense if you really want to know what to expect when you arrive streamside. If you don't want to do that then make the notes when you get home or are finished fishing for the day. In the grand scheme of things it makes for many more successful days fishing.

very cool. Just signed up for a couple alerts even though I'm on the site daily.

They also have a new feature called StreaMail where you can send a query for a particular stream by text message (or e-mail) and get a reply with the current flow for that stream.

I guess I need to put a little cheatsheet together for my phone so I know the USGS Station Numbers for my favorite streams in the field.

Instead of the cheatsheet, see if you can set up the text messages as "drafts" and then in the field just call them up ready-made and send.
