STEELHEAD

A buddy and I are headed up to erie for steelhead this coming Thursday. This will my first time ever trying it. I've been reading up on it a little bit and printing off some maps, but thought maybe you guys that are veterans might have some advice or places to try. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check out the stream reports below- some recent outings reported. I have not fished there in about 2 months.

For what it is worth- I would try to stick closer to the stream mouths.

Two reasons for that would be:

1. smolts were stocked- baby steelhead- they can be a pain to deal with when your trying to catch adults. I have caught 30 or so in a day- stinks when they ballup your rig. Generally the smolts- in my experience- has been the stock mid wayup the streams- at least were I caught'em.

2. fresher steel closer to the mouths- they are more bright colored and fight much more- generally more aggressive.
