Neat post Fred.

Just to clarify regarding this fish, the actual record would be for the 20lb class tippet. According to the IGFA, the largest striped bass caught on a fly (regardless of tippet) is 64 lbs 8 oz. Nevertheless, this is an extraordinary fish. I'm not surprised it was caught at the CBBT. Really, any 50lb striper is amazing. In all my years fishing the surf, I've never seen an honest to goodness 50 lb striper. I doubt I ever will. This would be the fish of a lifetime regardless of tackle. For an FFer to get a 50lb fish really is amazing.

my biggest to date is a 32 lber. have hook and lost larger ones, just havn't got that magical 40 lber. Thats all I want. Wellll maybe I'll think about a 50. Seen alot of 40's and 50's along the jersey coast never released one though. Seen up the delaware as well, near trenton.
