....doing first Lehigh float in a few weeks. Looking for info on lower stretch regarding put in/take out for half to full day float, any sketchy water, dams etc.

Thanks and good luck on the water.

There have been posts on here before regarding this, but I will say from my experience that there are two areas of concern; just south of Jim Thorpe as you approach the hard left bend and then again just before the Bowmanstown bridge. There is a tight chute that you have to navigate properly as it comes up on you quickly. I put in at Jim Thorpe and took out at Bowmanstown. I don't recall how long the trip was, but I will guess it was about 4-5 hours.

Look here for access points. http://thelehighriver.org/data.html

For half day floats:

Glen Onoko to Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe to Lehighton
Lehighton to Bowmanstown
Bowmanstown to Rte 873 Bridge
Walnutport to Triechlers

If you want to do a full day, just skip the take out and go to the next location, such as Lehighton to 873. Also Bowmanstown to Walnutport is a good full day float.

All dependent how much you want to stop and work the water.

Good luck

thank you...been looking at Bowmanstown to Walnutport. We will see how flows look in a few weeks.
