I was looking into a Pennsylvania Fish and Game magazine yesterday and it said that there's good coho fishing in presque isle bay especially in October. I did my first bit of steelhead fishing this year but though they didn't stock coho's there anymore. Anyone know anything of this?

Thanks!!

Ryan

I wasn't aware of "good" coho fishing in PA anywhere, but they are certainly around. NY still stocks them (along with kings and pinks) in their portion of Lake Erie, and they seem to be much more common in the eastern PA streams. Stocked smolts do not imprint as well as wild ones, and seem to get lost more easily, ending up in PA.

I have caught numerous kings to about 10 pounds and a few coho in 12, 16, and 20 mile creeks. My brother caught a coho in 16 Mile that went 31". I have seen pinks caught in Elk and Walnut as well.

"Good" coho chances in NY tribs off of Ontario. We used to catch a couple of coho per year in Erie in the mid-late 90's, but nothing recently.
